Wigs and Hair Pieces at No Cost
Wigs for Well-Being is a non-profit organization founded by The Salon at 10 Newbury’s owner and hair replacement specialist, Patricia Wrixon. For over 15 years, Patricia has generously donated luxurious, customized and ready-made wigs to women and children who are experiencing hair loss from cancer related treatments.
Patients Must Have the Following
Wigs for Well-Being provides gifted wigs and hair pieces from our wig bank to women and children who are experiencing hair loss from cancer-related treatments at no cost. To qualify for Wigs for Well-Being, patients must have the following items.
Prescription
A copy of a valid prescription for a wig or scalp/hair prosthesis from the patient's doctor.
Letter
A letter of financial need from the patient's social worker at the hospital where they are being treated.
Verification
Verification from the health insurance company that they offer very little-to-no coverage for a wig or hair/scalp prosthesis.
What to Expect
The team at The Salon at 10 Newbury is committed to providing a seamless transition during the process of your hair replacement. This may be a new experience for you, however, our experience can guide and assist you. We are determined to provide you with unparalleled serviced. Below is a reference on what to expect during your hair replacement process.
Consultation
This is the initial appointment to try on and go over the different options that we have available for you from our wig bank. We have a selection of different colors, lengths, and styles. Based on what we find during this appointment, we will schedule another appointment to come back for the final fitting appointment.
Wig Fitting
This appointment will entail the cutting, styling, and fitting of the wig or hairpiece. If you are undergoing treatment, we are able to help you with the removal of your hair if needed. We will give you instructions on how to take care of your wig/hairpiece at home so you are comfortable washing and styling it yourself.
Follow Up
As your hair begins to grow in, we can have you come back into the salon for a fitting adjustment to make sure it is secure & comfortable.
